Hi I am Denis, originally from United States and currently living in Japan.

Quality candles are hard to find in Japan. I can provide grade A soy wax candles made by women in need from remote islands in Indonesia. These women were trained by the charity, The Seed Basket. This US based charity provides many services, but chief among them is to provide sustainable living for women who have very little opportunity. Every effort has been made to make these candles as ethically as possible, both environmentally and as a business.

Back in 2019, I had the opportunity to learn about this project, I wanted to support them, and was able to get a small shipment of these candles which sold out very quickly at the Tokyo American Club’s International Bazaar. These candles were extremely popular and I have received an incredible amount of positive feedback. Since then I slowly started to import their candles and sell them through various functions in the international communities in Tokyo.

As requested by many customers, I have now launched my online shop, DD's Den and facebook/Instagram pages to share the stories about the products. Please follow me through the SNS pages if you are interested in this high quality product and supporting these women.

If you would like to check the scents before you purchase, I can meet up with you at Toranomon Hills quite easily. はじめまして！デニスといいます。アメリカ出身で現在は日本に住んでいます。日本語は勉強中です。

日本に移住してから気が付いたのですが、日本では高品質のソイアロマキャンドルを見つけるのがとても難しく、また価格がとても高いと感じました。母国アメリカではキャンドルは比較的簡単に買うことが出来ますし種類やサイズもとても豊富です。ところが日本では高級デパートやセレクトショップ、専門店に行かなければなかなかお目にかかれません。そこでインドネシアの離島で日々の生活に困窮している女性達が心を込めて作った素晴らしいソイワックスのキャンドルを日本で紹介したいと思います。この女性グループは米国発の慈善団体、シードバスケットの手助けによって職業訓練を受け、手作りキャンドルの制作販売ビジネスを立ち上げました。この米国を拠点とする慈善団体はほかにも現地で数多くのサポートプログラムを提供していますが、その中でも、働く機会がほとんどない女性に持続可能な生活を提供することを目的としたフェアトレードビジネスモデルの構築は最も重要なプロジェクトのひとつでした。これらのキャンドルはエコロジーに最大限の配慮を行い、ビジネスとして可能な限り倫理的に制作、また販売するためにあらゆる努力が払われています。

2019年に、このプロジェクトについて学ぶ機会があり、ぜひ彼らをサポートしたいと思いました。まず試しにいくつかの種類のキャンドルを東京アメリカンクラブのインターナショナルバザールで販売したところ、あっという間に売り切れました。このソイアロマキャンドルはたいへんな人気で、信じられないほどの反響と高評価を受け取りました。それ以来、少しずつ彼らのキャンドルを輸入し、東京の在日外国人を中心とするコミュニティでさまざまなイベントを通じて販売し始めました。

たくさんのリピーターのみなさんに応援してもらい、ついにオンラインショップ、DD's Den、フェイスブック/インスタグラムのページを立ち上げました。これからはこの素晴らしい商品とそのストーリーをより多くのみなさんと共有していきたいと思っています。この高品質でサスティナブルなアロマキャンドルに興味があり、インドネシア、リアウ諸島の女性たちが立ち上げたフェアトレードビジネスをサポートしていただけるようであれば、是非とも下記のSNSページから私をフォローして頂ければと思います。
